Cypress Police Foundation's 7th Annual Police Appreciation Luncheon

With a filled to capacity Cypress Community Center, the 7th Annual Police Appreciation Luncheon was held May 11, 2017.  The Cypress Police Foundation has been proud to sponsor these Luncheons since 2011. It is a signature project of the Foundation and it has grown in its size, visibility and recognition over the years.

There are many hours that go into the preparation of this annual event that is timed to run precisely from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. It is the Foundation’s opportunity to showcase to our City and its environs, our police officers and police staff and the great work they do year round in protecting all of us. It is a fun event at the same time. The participants enjoy a great meal and camaraderie as attendees sit side by side with our community partners.  The color guard, the bagpipes, the awards ceremony and the showcasing of our police department’s weaponry and heavy equipment, including the beloved K-9s are all a part of the event. The photos give you a glimpse of all the excitement.

Such an event would not be possible but for the generous financial support of corporate citizens. Elsewhere on our website, we acknowledge these great companies and their generosity. We are also proud of the many individual citizens that not only attend the Luncheons but are generous in their financial support as well.

If you have missed these Luncheons in the past, plan to attend one in the future. Our next year’s Luncheon will be held May 15, 2018 at the Cypress Community Center. Stay tuned to this website for more information as we get closer to that date.

Cypress Police Department Open House

Cypress Police Department OPEN HOUSE

If you haven’t attended one, you are missing out. The Open House, held each May, is a great way to showcase the Police Department. With tours, displays, food, and demonstrations, there is something for everyone. At last year’s Open House, the Cypress Police Department had ‘Team Soil BMX’ perform. The team highlights bike safety and discusses hot topics like bullying and living a drug-free life while wowing the crowd with amazing BMX tricks and flips. The team did their standard 45-minute performance of high-flying BMX action. Best of all was the “jump over the Chief” presentation.

There were over 2000 attendees at Open House 2016, many of whom are our youth.

The giveaway grand prize was a BMX bike. In addition, 24 certified bike helmets were given away. The Cypress Police Foundation is proud to have funded events at the Open House with a grant of over $3000.  We hope to see you at Open House 2017 on May 6th. Check the CPF and City website for more information.

Come Be a PACE Supporter

Pace Title

PACE, Positive Actions thru Character Education  is a program which features a broad based approach to teach students about making positive choices throughout their lives.

alt

Five years ago, the Cypress Police Department partnered with our local elementary school districts and several private schools to thoroughly understand the challenges faced by our Cypress students from all walks of life. The program, born from this collaboration, is PACE. The PACE program was created to enhance awareness, influence choices, and educate sixth grade students in Cypress.  PACE is designed to be creative and non-traditional; guiding students to become persons of good character and behavior while forging a positive relationship with police.

alt

The PACE curriculum addresses internet safety, social media, peer pressure, bullying, violence and drug abuse. Students learn to make virtuous and responsible decisions while receiving instruction about recognizing and resisting the many direct and subtle pressures that may influence them.  Emphasis is placed on integrated character development that will guide students throughout their lives.

alt

PACE provides the learning tools that underscore the importance of the Josephson Institute’s Six Pillars of Character: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship. Each year approximately 1000 sixth graders graduate from the PACE program.

alt

The PACE program costs about $10,000.00 a year. The Cypress Police Foundation has funded the PACE program for all these years through its many supporters and primarily through the generosity of the Bandai Foundation.

alt

Now you can become a supporter too. For a $1000.00 contribution, you can become one of 10 supporters for the year 2018. We will acknowledge your tax-deductible gift with a letter thanking you, a certificate of appreciation recognizing you as a 2018 PACE supporter, and a Cypress Police Foundation Logo pin. Mail your $1000.00 check payable to the Cypress Police Foundation, P.O. Box 1443, Cypress, CA 90630. Include with it a note that you wish to be a 2018 PACE supporter and we’ll do the rest.  Thank you.
