Cypress Police Foundation Takes Part in the 2015 Cypress Community Festival

The Cypress Police Foundation (CPF), a nonprofit public benefit corporation established to support innovative programs, projects, and activities of the Cypress Police Department, manned a booth at the Cypress Community Festival on Saturday, July 25, 2015 to provide information to the public about the Foundation's mission.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth to say hello, to ask about the Cypress Police K-9 demonstration, and to make a cash donation to the Cypress Police Foundation and its mission in support of the Cypress Police Department.

Since its inception the CPF has successfully raised and awarded over $40,000.00 to the Cypress Police Department in the form of grants for various programs. More information on the funded grants and programs can be found at www.cypresspf.org.

The money raised by the Foundation comes from donations by Cypress individuals and corporate citizens with 98% going directly into the funded projects and programs.

One such project is Police K-9 Pasko, who took part with his handler in this year’s Cypress Community Festival Cypress Police Department K-9 Demonstration. Also on hand was Police K-9 Sem, shown in a photo above taking down a "bad guy" during that demonstration.

(Note that K-9 Sem is wearing a muzzle in order to ensure the safety of the Cypress Police Officer playing "bad guy." The photo is by Katie Wiedel and is used courtesy of Orange County Breeze.)

Highly popular at the Cypress Police Foundation booth this year was a card bearing a photo of K-9 Pasko on one side with a description of the Cypress Police Foundation on the other side.

The Cypress Police Foundation booth was part of the Public Safety Island on the west side of Oak Knoll Park. The Park served as the official Cypress Community Festival Grounds. We were near the entrance to the children's ride area and across from the Cypress Police Department's cool CSI display. Not far north of us was a static display from the Orange County Fire Authority. Just to our right, the Cypress Police were giving away nifty fold-up windshield screens to keep the sun off your dashboard.

The Cypress Police Foundation would like to thank Bandai for its donation of action figure toys that enabled us to delight and amaze booth visitors that, yes, they could take one.
